In the academic year 2017/2018. year, the Faculty of Law begins with the implementation of the Doctoral Study in European Law.
This study program is implemented as a postgraduate study at the Faculty of Law in Mostar for a duration of three years (six semesters) with a total load of 180 ECTS points. At the studio, classes in European law are organized. The subjects are grouped into compulsory (general and major subjects) and electives. They should provide students with knowledge and abilities aligned with the learning outcomes and competencies acquired at the end of postgraduate studies at the 3rd cycle of university education. The study belongs to the scientific field of social sciences, the field of law, and relevant branches according to the accepted European criteria for systematizing sciences.

Title: Doctor of Legal Sciences in the field of European law

Price of doctoral studies: 15,000.00 KM (2500.00 KM per semester)
The doctoral study, lasting six semesters, is carried out with the following modules:
- Civil and family law
- Criminal law
- Constitutional law
The following can apply for doctoral studies:
1) a person who has completed the first cycle of studies in the field of law and the second cycle of studies in the field of legal or other social or humanistic sciences and obtained the title of Master of Law or Master of the corresponding profession, having achieved 300 ECTS points,
2) a person who completed the first cycle of studies in the field of other social sciences or humanities and the second cycle of studies in the field of legal sciences, and obtained the title of Master of Laws, having achieved 300 ECTS points,
3) a person who has completed the first and second cycle of studies in the field of other social sciences or humanities, and obtained a master's degree in the corresponding profession, having achieved 300 ECTS points,
4) a person who has completed a law school and a master's degree in the field of legal sciences or in the field of other social sciences or humanities and obtained the title of master of legal sciences or master of other relevant sciences, according to the previously valid regulations (equivalence - having achieved 300 ECTS points),
5) a person who graduated from a university in the field of other social sciences or humanities and a master's degree in the field of law or other social sciences or humanities and obtained the title of master of legal sciences or corresponding sciences, according to the previously valid regulations (equivalence - having achieved 300 ECTS points),
6) a person who completed a master's degree in the field of other social sciences or humanities and obtained a master's degree, according to the previously valid regulations (equivalence - having achieved 300 ECTS points),
7) a person who completed a scientific master's degree in law or in other social sciences and humanities,
8) a person who obtained the equivalent of a master's degree (specialist), and in the first or second cycle, graduated from the Faculty of Law or obtained the equivalent in the second cycle at the Faculty of Law,
9) a person who enrolled in a postgraduate scientific master's study in legal sciences, but did not finish that study,
10) a person who, according to the previously valid regulations, graduated from the Faculty of Law.
When enrolling a person who has not completed the first or second cycle of legal studies, or has not obtained the title of master of legal sciences, the Council of Studies determines the exams from the programs of the first and second cycle of legal studies that this person must pass in order to be approved for study. Exceptionally, the Council of Studies can approve such a person enrolling in a preparatory semester in which he would master, according to an individualized program, the appropriate content from the program of the I or II cycle of legal studies to the extent of up to 30 ECTS points. The content of the individualized preparatory semester is determined, in accordance with previously acquired knowledge, by a special commission appointed by the Study Council.
Candidates from t. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th should have achieved an average grade of at least 8 or a minimum average grade of 7.5 with two recommendations from the subject teachers from previous study cycles which the candidate attended.
Candidates from t. 8. they should have achieved a minimum average grade of 8.
All candidates should have at least two published scientific papers, of which at least one paper was published in an international journal indexed in the CC, SCI or SCIExp database and at least one paper was publicly presented at international scientific conferences.
Candidates from item 1. who have completed the study of the I and II cycle in the field of legal sciences, 18 ECTS points are recognized (passed subjects: Methodology of legal sciences and European legal tradition).
Candidates from points 4 and 5 are awarded 101 ECTS points (1st year - 60 ECTS; 3rd semester: 30 ECTS; 4th semester: 11 ECTS - scientific work). They enroll in the 4th (fourth) semester of doctoral studies, during which they have the obligation to publicly defend the application of the topic of the doctoral dissertation (19 ECTS).
Candidates from point 9, who have completed the preparation and defense of their Master's thesis, are awarded 79 ECTS credits (1st year - 60 ECTS; 3rd semester - 5 ECTS for the elective course and 14 ECTS for 2 seminar papers). They enroll in the 3rd semester, during which they are required to do one scientific paper (11 ECTS).
All other candidates enroll in the I (first) semester of doctoral studies.
All applicants should have knowledge of English or another foreign language relevant to the field of study.

In the creation of common subjects and cooperation in scientific research projects related to the doctoral program, cooperation with related doctoral studies is possible in principle. Professors from other Bosnian and foreign law and other faculties, primarily from the field of social sciences, can participate as teachers and guest lecturers.
