Enroll at the Faculty of Law

There are many reasons to decide to study at the Faculty of Law of the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar!

To make it easier for you to make a decision, familiarize yourself with the basic information about the Faculty of Law of the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar.
 

Teaching is organized in two directions:

The status of a student at the undergraduate study of the Faculty of Law of the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar is acquired by enrolling in the first year of studies.
The right to participate in the competition, which is announced in June/July, is open to all persons who have completed a four-year high school education.
Candidates with better general success achieved during their previous schooling are given preference for admission, and success in subjects important for study (history and mother tongue) is also taken into account.
Candidates are selected using general and individual criteria.

At the Faculty of Law of the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar, you can acquire:
 
  • Higher vocational education, i.e. Bachelor of Law degree (at the end of the 1st cycle of study – four-year undergraduate study, 240 ECTS points)
  • The title of Master of Laws (at the end of the second cycle of studies: "International relations and diplomacy", "Civil-law course", "Criminal-law course", "Legal-economic course", "State-law course", 60 ECTS points)
  • The title of Doctor of Legal Sciences in the field of European Law (at the end of the 3rd cycle of studies – Doctoral study of European Law, 180 ECTS points).
 
Upon completion of the 1st cycle of Bachelor of Law studies, one is qualified for independent work in all areas of law for which completion of the Faculty of Law is required (and not the passing of a professional, judicial or other exam): in the private and public sector, in the non-profit sector, in judicial institutions (court, prosecutor's office, bar), in defense, protection, security and human resources management in the civil sector, in administration as managers, operatives or referents in administrative bodies at all levels, in state agencies, in ministries, directorates, institutes, institutions and agencies, inspection services, media, in the economy, small and medium-sized enterprises, in international organizations, diplomatic and consular missions, in non-governmental and humanitarian organizations, in law enforcement agencies / operational police jobs and tasks, all levels of management, criminal intelligence departments or departments, operational analytics, education of police s structure, analysis and planning of operational tasks, internal control of police work, in scientific - teaching, scientific research, educational and professional institutions.
 
Upon completion of the second cycle of studies, masters of law are qualified to perform highly specialized jobs in the legal profession in the field of civil, criminal, state law, legal-economic field, international relations and diplomacy, in the private, public, judicial and non-profit sectors, and for engaging in scientific - teaching or scientific research institutions.
 
Upon completion of the III cycle of studies - Doctoral study of European law, doctors of legal sciences from the field of European law will be qualified for employment in institutions to perform highly specialized jobs in the legal profession in the private, public and non-governmental sectors, for engagement at scientific - teaching or scientific - research institutions , for work in state, local and public administration bodies, in various public institutions, directorates, bodies and organizations, diplomatic and consular missions, international and domestic governmental and non-governmental organizations, judicial bodies, business companies.

Regular students pay the sum of 400 KM (200 KM per semester) for enrollment in each year of study.
 
Part-time students and students who pay their own tuition (self-financing students) pay annual tuition in the amount of 1600 KM (800 KM per semester).

The Faculty of Law has five classrooms, one hall for simulated trials (a mini courtroom where students conduct practical classes), one law office (also designed for practical work) and a library.

The Faculty of Law offers students various opportunities for international exchanges, competitions, projects, and the like:

State competition in the simulation of trials in the field of criminal law
Regional competition in the field of human rights Clinics in the field of criminal law, human rights, children's rights Debate competitions (between PF students, between university students and high school students)
State debate competition between public Law Faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Knowledge quiz, and many others.

  • in scientific - teaching, scientific research, educational and professional institutions.

Enrollment at the Faculty of Law is based on a competition, in which candidates with completed secondary (four-year) education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as foreign citizens and stateless persons with completed secondary education abroad, have the right to participate.

An admitted candidate with a completed secondary education abroad can enroll in the first year of the first cycle of studies after the nostrification, i.e. the equivalence of the certificate of completed secondary education abroad, and by the beginning of the school year at the latest.

Candidates are selected using general, individual and special criteria. The general criterion is success achieved during the entire high school education, and special success in subjects that are important for the study - mother tongue and history.

A special criterion refers to the recognition gained for success during schooling or at competitions in knowledge of scientific disciplines or based on results in top sports, and additional points can be obtained based on it. Points obtained for both are calculated for each candidate
criteria, in the manner specified in the competition. The student admissions committee compiles a ranking list according to the criteria specified in the competition.

If not enough candidates come forward in the June deadline, or not all registered candidates
achieve the minimum number of points required for admission, a competition is announced in September
for the second enrollment term. The same procedure is followed regarding the ranking and admission of candidates
as well as on the first enrollment period.

Candidates for enrollment in the first year of studies submit the following documents to the Student Service:
  1. enrollment application form (available at the Faculty),
  2. original certificates of grades I, II, III, IV and final certificate,
  3. birth certificate,
  4. Certificate of Citizenship,
  5. other documents important for determining the number of points according to established criteria.
 
The competition is announced in June, and the status of an undergraduate student is acquired by enrolling in the first year of studies, which takes place in September. Enrollment in senior years and renewal of enrollment takes place from September 1 to October 10.
