Scientific meeting "EU Rights Days"

Naučni skup "Dani prava EU"

On March 19, 2019, the Faculty of Law of the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar held the scientific meeting Days of EU Law, which the Faculty of Law holds in cooperation with the Network of Law Faculties of Southeastern Europe (SEELS), and within the project "Strengthening the study of European Union law in the countries Southeastern Europe".

At the scientific gathering of Prof. Ph.D. Maja Čolaković presented the SEE Law Journal, which is a unique publication because it is the only scientific journal in English in Southeast Europe that deals with relevant issues of EU law and is an encouraging example of interregional academic cooperation. The journal publishes original, double-reviewed scientific articles that have a multidisciplinary approach and focus on relevant issues of regional, European and international integration of the Western Balkan countries, issues of legal reform and harmonization of national legislation in Southeast Europe with EU law. Four numbers have been published so far, and the fifth is in preparation. The magazine is published as part of the publishing activity of the SEELS network, and its publication is currently co-financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program

Prof. Ph.D. Alena Huseinbegović, dean of the Faculty of Law, expressed her gratitude to all referees, recognized scientists, researchers and practitioners in the field of legal and other related sciences who responded to the invitation to this gathering. Bearing in mind that one of the most important political goals of Bosnia and Herzegovina is inclusion in the Euro-Atlantic integration, where it is necessary to make adjustments to the legal system of BiH with the acquis of the EU, the aim of the Conference is to improve the theory, legislation and practice in the field of European law through the exchange of experiences and research results contained in papers and discussions. The process of European integration requires a comprehensive adjustment of policies, institutional framework and legal system with the aim of reaching European standards, i.e. acceptance of European standards implies extensive internal reforms, stronger economic development and more intensive foreign policy action in areas that affect the dynamics of relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union. I hope that the results of the work of this scientific meeting will provide a significant contribution and incentive for further research and scientific treatment of EU law.
