Challenges of democracy in multicultural societies: winter school in BiH and summer school in Switzerland for BiH students; Switzerland's contribution to sustainable democratization in Bosnia and Herzegovina: improving the skills of prospective students
Project goal:
- Capacity-building of future decision-makers and leaders of public change: by providing students with a theoretical basis and empirical examples of political systems of other multicultural societies, capacity-building for constitutional reform is strengthened
- Improvement of cooperation between the universities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland: the project represents a chance to improve cooperation beyond the scope of this project through interuniversity cooperation, both through academic cooperation and the exchange of experts, as well as through student exchange opportunities

Duration of the project: academic year 2012/2013
Activities in the project:
Selected students will participate in:
- one-month winter school in Bosnia and Herzegovina (January 27, 2013 – February 2, 2013)
- one-month summer school in Switzerland (July/August 2013)
Students will be offered theoretical background and empirical/practical examples of multicultural democracies and their constitutions, through lectures by local and foreign experts. Student evaluation will be based on the participation and contribution of students during lectures as well as on two written assignments:
- a shorter paper will be taught after the winter school on the same essay topic assigned to all students
- a more extensive, individual assignment on a selected research topic related to constitutional reform and related topics with a deadline of one month after the end of the summer school.
Recognition of ECTS credits awarded by the University of Zurich for students attending this course.
