The Faculty of Law of the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) held on June 10, 2021. 9th international scientific conference "Family Law Days".
This year's international scientific meeting was attended by scientists, teachers and associates from universities from Mostar, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Zenica, Maribor, Zagreb, Kragujevac, Banja Luka, as well as legal experts (judges, notaries and lawyers in state/entity institutions).
The central theme of this year's meeting is "Current issues of family law theory and practice", which aims to provide scientific treatment and insight into a wide range of current theoretical and pressing problems of legal (judicial) practice with regard to contemporary family law institutions. Changes in the family and family relationships, significantly determined social changes and trends, have influenced the transformation of the fundamental family law institutions of marriage, extramarital union, the establishment of parental legal relationship, the realization of parental care, guardianship and property relations in the family. Along with already present social changes such as migration, aging of the population, reduction of the birth rate, poverty, increase number of binational families, rapid technological and biomedical progress, due to the global pandemic of the corona virus, modern legal systems are faced with new challenges, which in the field of family law include, inter alia, the problem of increasing rates of domestic violence and online violence, protection of privacy and personal data, realization of personal relations of the child with the parent with whom he does not live, protection of the rights of the child in the digital environment and unaccompanied children, protection of the elderly and persons with disabilities, and the issue of arranging and realizing cross-border family relations. The expansion of the use of digital tools and digital platforms in all spheres of society opens up space for re-examining the existing arrangement of both family court proceedings and alternative ways of resolving family disputes in national and transnational frameworks, as well as determining possible directions for their transformation and harmonization with the requirements of modern times.
We hope that the papers presented at the Meeting and published in the Proceedings, through a detailed, comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach, will contribute to formulating a scientific response to the prominent problems and challenges of contemporary family law.
Papers that are accepted will be published in the Proceedings of the scientific meeting.
Due to the epidemiological situation caused by the Covid-19 virus pandemic, the Meeting was held online, via the Microsoft TEAMs platform.
